The cutting disc or blade motor is jammed or overloaded. The mower stops the blades for safety when it can't turn them freely.
Common causes
An object — a stick, stone, root, pine cone or toy — wedged against the disc.
Long, wet or matted grass overloading the cutting motor.
A bent, cracked or unevenly-worn blade disc that no longer spins true.
Blades worn or replaced unevenly, throwing the disc out of balance.
How to fix it
Switch the mower off before touching the disc, then tip it up and remove whatever is jamming or wrapped around the blades.
Check the disc spins freely by hand and sits flat with no wobble.
Replace all blades and screws together as a set so the disc stays balanced — never mix new and worn blades.
If the disc is bent, or the fault returns with clean, balanced blades, have the cutting motor and disc inspected.
