Automower error E01 “Outside working area” — causes and fixes
Error 01 means the mower believes it's outside the boundary loop. Sometimes it literally is;
more often the wire or signal is confusing it.
Common causes, in order
The wire moved or was re-laid too close to the edge — after garden work, check the
mower can keep its whole body inside the loop at corners and along fences. Husqvarna's spacing
guidance exists for exactly this.
Escapes: a gap under a fence, a rut, or a slope by the boundary lets the mower
physically slide outside — look for tracks.
Signal polarity/quality: crossed or pinched wire, a corroded joint, or a loop laid
too close to a neighbour's installation can garble the “inside vs outside” signal. Check
joints; if a neighbour runs a robot mower on the shared boundary, try changing your loop
signal setting.
After heavy rain: waterlogged joints misbehave, then recover as they dry — an
intermittent E01 that follows the weather is a corroded joint asking to be re-made with a
gel connector.
