The mower searched for this guide wire and never picked up its signal. The guides are separate loops running from the charging station out into the lawn, which the mower follows to drive home instead of tracking the boundary the whole way round. A break in a guide is found and repaired the same way as a break in the boundary.
Common causes
A break in the guide wire — the charging station shows a blue flashing light when it can't drive a complete loop.
The guide disconnected, loose or corroded at its station terminal (G1, G2 or G3, depending on model).
A failed splice where the guide joins the boundary loop.
How to fix it
Check the charging station's indicator first. Blue flashing means a wire break; solid green means that section of wire is fine and the fault is elsewhere.
Switch off ECO mode before searching — the detection method does not work with it on.
Isolate which wire is broken by switching connections between the guide and boundary terminals at the station. With AL and G1 swapped, a solid green light tells you the break is in the boundary between AL and the point where the guide joins it.
Narrow the break down by halving: disconnect the suspect wire, run a test loop from the station to the midpoint of the section, and check the lamp. Green means the break is in the half you disconnected. Repeat until you have it.
To repair, trim about 60 cm from each end of the damaged section, insert one end into each hole of an Automower coupler, check through the transparent side that both are fully home, and press firmly with pliers. Use the original waterproof couplers — a twisted-and-taped joint corrodes and fails again.
Bury or staple the repaired run so it doesn't get caught next time.
